 Identification Notes:
[Modify
Pallidiceps is quite small (even smaller than Cinereous GT) and very pale. The crown-patch is very pale orange-tawny. Note the very contrasting blackish wing (including the coverts) which readily seperates it from Cinereous even without seeing the crown-patch.
 Similar species:
[Modify
Chestnut-naped Ground Tyrant M. r. occipitalis with crown-patch darker red towards chestnut. Eye-brow supposedly is more prominent, but this seems hard to discern on photographs.
Cinerous lack crown patch and has grayer wing.
 Taxonomic notes:
[Modify
According to HBW could taxon occipitalis deserve species status. It is sympatric with pallidiceps in SW Peru. In Arequipa department one should look carefully to decern which taxon is involved.

This bird was seen at the Condor lookout 7 km from Huachupampa. It looks as if it is the migrating pallidiceps from which should not be in Lima right now. Comments?

This bird was seen at the Condor lookout 7 km from Huachupampa. It looks as if it is the migrating pallidiceps because of the pale cinnamon crown patch. It is a migrating form from the south which should not be in Lima right now. Comments?

Capachica, Lake Titicaca. Tor Egil had put down this bird as occipitalis, but it looks more like pallidiceps to me. Very paly orange tawny crown patch.

Gunnar Engblom comments: In spite of this bird photographed at Chiguata it does look much more orangy on the crown, and one can hint that the underparts are also whiter than other birds posted by Tor Egil Høgsås
