BIRDING NEWS
Lima Big Day
Date: June 20, 2005
Gunnar Engblom, Scott Robinson, Bob Holt and driver Juan Liziola established the highest 24 hour bird-count in Lima department on Saturday June 18th. 116 species were tallied between 06.15-18.20. All species were seen. There is a short trip report on http://www.birdingperu.com/masterperu/exp_seetripreport_titles.asp with the species list just a click away.
Quite a feat to have Diademed Sandpiper-Plover, White-bellied Cinclodes (8 at Ticlio), Andean Condor, White-cheeked Cotinga and Inca Tern on the list for the same day. Altitudes between 4900m to sea-level were covered.
